Dahabiya under sail on the Nile

    The Nile under sail

    Private dahabiya. Luxor, Aswan.

A private dahabiya is the whole boat for 10 to 25 travellers, with a private chef: CHF 10 000 to CHF 100 000 for 3 to 4 nights, depending on the size of the boat and its level of comfort.

This is not a catalogue cruise. It is a small sailing boat, chartered for you alone, between Luxor and Aswan. We build it from your brief. Or we decline.

    The boat

A dahabiya, not a cruise ship.

A dahabiya (dahabieh) is a low, quiet sailing boat that moors where the big ships cannot. Between Luxor and Aswan, the days stay open. Sites are visited at opening or at closing time, never at noon out of habit. The Let’s Go by ADN team holds the ground from Cairo.

    The brief

    Who we build it for.

    Yes

A couple, a family, a small circle who want the Nile without everyone else’s programme.

A travel house that keeps its brand and its client relationship.

A slow pace, with early mornings and free afternoons.

    No

Three cruises in the same journey.

Karnak at noon, “because you have to”.

Availability promised before it has been checked on board.

    The thread

    One possible rhythm.

3 to 4 nights under sail between Luxor and Aswan, framed by the West Bank read with an Egyptologist, and Cairo if the brief calls for it. Eight to eleven days in all, depending on the profile.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a private dahabiya between Luxor and Aswan?

A small sailing boat chartered for your group between Luxor and Aswan: a private dahabiya cruise on the Nile, not a cruise ship. It is the ideal choice for a Nile cruise on a small sailing boat: 8 to 12 cabins when the boat is shared, or the whole boat for 10 to 25 travellers from Luxor to Aswan, far from the large ships of 70 to 200 passengers. Sites are visited at opening or at closing time. We build it from your brief, or we decline.

Dahabiya, dahabieh or dahabeya: is it the same thing?

Yes. Three spellings for the same type of low sailing boat on the Nile. At ADN we say dahabiya or dahabieh depending on the brief; the French address of this page keeps dahabeya. Travellers mostly search for “private dahabiya Luxor Aswan”.

How many nights between Luxor and Aswan?

3 to 4 nights under sail, within a total stay of around eight to eleven days depending on the profile. The exact thread appears in the written proposal, after real availability has been checked, not before.

Do you also work for agencies (DMC / B2B)?

Yes. Your brand in front. Design in Geneva; the ground held by Let’s Go by ADN. Files go through the Pro Space.

    How do we start?

A brief in a few lines. Answer within 5 to 12 hours for a private traveller; within 5 to 12 hours through the Pro Space for a travel house.
